Heartland Resources, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization,
governed by a fifteen member board of directors. Founded in 1968 as
the Lewis County Council on Aging,
Heartland Resources has evolved into a service organization whose
mission is to assist the elderly in maintaining
independence with dignity.
Primary areas of service include:
1) In-Home Services, a program designed to help individuals remain in
a community based setting as long as possible.
2) Lewis County Nutrition Program serving seniors aged 60+, as
well as handicapped and disabled ages 18-59. Both home-delivered and
congregate meals are available.
3) Foster Grandparent Program, a program on intergenerational sharing
matching seniors with children of need in schools, Head Start centers,
and other sites.
Heartland Resources contracts with the Northeast Missouri Area Agency
of Aging, Missouri Division of
Medical Services, Missouri Department of Mental Health, Veterans
Administration, private pay clients, and other funding sources to provide
services.
